Different types of assets require different types of connectivity, and Eutelsat’s VSAT services are optimized to meet varying data and speed requirements. For fixed assets with average data requirements, such as data collection from sensors, Eutelsat IoT FIRST is a simple and inexpensive connectivity solution using Ku-band satellite capacity. For IoT applications which require more data or are more speed-intensive, such as video surveillance, Eutelsat IoT ADVANCE is a managed connectivity service using Ka-band satellite capacity.

IoT FIRST includes a compact, easy to install Ku-band satellite terminal, optimized satellite capacity, and an IoT-dedicated hub, managed by Eutelsat. Terminals are easily and rapidly installed and configured thanks to an interactive Smartphone app that is available to help point the antenna and commission the modem.

IoT ADVANCE leverages the Eutelsat ADVANCE infrastructures, via off-the shelf Ka-band HNS terminals and rate plans specifically designed for IoT.

Proposed at the lowest price-point of alternative satellite-based solutions, in the range of cellular IoT connectivity services, monthly subscriptions start as low as single-digit Euros per month. This includes access to a web-based portal and an API for customers to manage their connectivity service or further build customised applications for their businesses.

LPWA networks connect low throughput, low power assets over a very long range. However, as they rely on terrestrial gateways, coverage is a major issue for many IoT use cases. Any device located beyond the range of the LPWA gateways cannot communicate.

With Eutelsat’s innovative Low Earth orbit (LEO) service, boost your LoRa and Sigfox network coverage worldwide. The service integrates seamlessly into existing LPWAN infrastructures, without the need to invest in additional gateways, extending LPWA networks across the globe and enabling devices to transmit data irrespective of their location. LEO solutions are particularly well-suited to the narrowband connectivity requirements of the IoT market. Complementing terrestrial networks, they offer a satellite link anywhere in the world, without increasing the cost or energy consumption of the objects.

This enhanced network coverage will open the door to many new industries in areas such as oil & gas, telecoms, transportation, agriculture and emergency situations.
