The 7° East neighbourhood is a key orbital position for regional TV channels and one of Eutelsat’s fastest-growing video neighbourhoods. Nearly 400 TV channels already broadcast from 7° East, which serves anchor clients including Azam TV and Canal+ Ethiopia.
The orbital position has seen important growth in the Middle East with over 5 million homes, and is a growing neighbourhood for Farsi-speaking audiences. Located just 6° from EMEA's premium HOTBIRD neighbourhood at 13° East, viewers can receive programmes from both 7° East and 13° East with a simple dual-feed antenna. 7° East is also a key pay-TV neighbourhood for Eastern Africa with some of the fastest growth rates in the region.
In 2020, the innovative new EUTELSAT KONNECT satellite joined the 7° East location. EUTELSAT KONNECT is a high-capacity broadband satellite which delivers significant resources for broadband services across Europe and Africa and setting a new benchmark for flexibility in High Throughput Satellites.

EUTELSAT 7B is co-located with the EUTELSAT 7C satellite at this new orbital hotspot for customers in South-East Europe, the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean.
These additional resources at 7° East have increased in-orbit security, while the very high power available on EUTELSAT 7B makes it particularly suitable for Direct-to-Home (DTH) applications.
EUTELSAT 7B features five coverage zones: one high-power beam over Europe; two beams serving Europe, North Africa and the Middle East; and two beams covering Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean.

LAUNCHER: Ariane 5
EUTELSAT 7C is a high-power broadcast satellite for markets in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. It is co-positioned with EUTELSAT 7B at 7° East. This improved two-satellite constellation with enhanced coverage flexibility and connectivity will take the 7° East neighbourhood to a new level.
By significantly increasing capacity over Sub-Saharan Africa, EUTELSAT 7C can accomodate several hundred additional digital channels, to support the region’s fast expanding TV market. It is also equipped with a beam providing enhanced capacity for government services over Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia, as well as a steerable beam that can cover any region visible from 7° East.
Manufactured by Maxar Technologies, and launched in 2019, EUTELSAT 7C is equipped with 49 36 MHz-equivalent Ku-band transponders.

EUTELSAT KONNECT is a new-generation High Throughput Satellite offering unprecedented operational flexibility. Launched on 16 January 2020, the innovative new satellite is entering operation progressively from November 2020.
Delivering significant resources for broadband services across Europe and Africa, EUTELSAT KONNECT sets a new benchmark for flexibility in High Throughput Satellites.
Providing 75 Gbps of capacity across a network of 65 spotbeams, which together provide quasi-complete coverage of Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa, the satellite will address direct-to-user consumer and enterprise broadband services using dishes from approximately 75 cm.
